How much do your pet portraits cost?
I take great pride in creating highly Classic, hand-drawn pet portraits using the finest materials. With over 25 years of experience, I offer a bespoke service that reflects the time, care and craftsmanship that goes into each piece. Visit the Pet Portrait Prices page for sizes and pricing options.
How do I pay a deposit?
UK clients pay via bank transfer. International clients receive an invoice with a secure card payment link. I accept most credit and debit cards. Deposits are £200 for Classic Drawings.
When do I pay the final amount?
The final payment is made just before I begin the drawing, using the same method as the deposit.
Can I view the artwork before it's sent?
All clients will receive a range of photos of their portrait for approval before shipping. Tweaks and minor changes can be made to the drawing at this stage too.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes, I can set this up for you, for an amount set each month. UK clients can also send instalments via bank transfer. Once you have paid for the pencil portrait in full, I will then start the drawing once you have risen to the top of my commissions list.
What is your waiting time?
I can usually meet special dates, contact me for more details. It depends on the time of year and my current waiting list, which can be anywhere between a few weeks and a few months. If you’d like to gift a portrait for a special occasion, it’s best to contact me early. Get in touch.
Do you work from photographs?
Yes. I use one main photo for the pose for my pencil portraits. I am unable to look at a range of photos and create your pet in a pose. So it's important to find or take a photo that really captures your pet well. Photos are key and it is imperative to provide me with the best possible quality photo you can. My pencil portraits are fairly realistic so I need to see plenty of detail. If in doubt, send me your photos and I will be able to let you know if I can work with them. Why not have a look at my Photography Tips page to see the kind of photos I prefer to work with.
How many photos should I send?
As many good ones that you have! Most of the time I am unable to meet the pets I draw. Having lots of lovely photos to see of them can be really helpful for me to get a rounded picture of what they are or were like. I also love to hear any funny stories about them. If you can it's always lovely to have something to share on my blog and pencil portraits website to go along with the portrait.
Can you remove collars in the drawing?
Yes! I can remove collars or change them to different ones. Just send me plenty of photos and I can let you know what is possible in the drawing.
Can you combine dogs from single photos?
Yes, this is often the best way of taking photos of your pets if you would like a combined portrait. I do like to see photos of the pets together, just to gauge size relationship between them.
Can you work from printed photographs?
Digital photos are ideal, but if you only have prints, you can take a photo of them and email them to me to check. If they are suitable, you're welcome to post them.
How do you pack the portraits?
My drawings are packaged beautifully which is perfect if they are being given as a gift. They are wrapped in cellophane, tissue paper and places in an archival box. This is then tied with a ribbon and wrapped in foam wrap. They are placed in a double walled cardboard box ready to send.
How much is shipping?
UK delivery is from £30 depending on size. International shipping starts at £100. Shipping is via DHL or Parcelforce on tracked services.
Do you accept commissions worldwide?
Yes! I have created pencil portraits for clients all over the world. It’s always a joy to connect with pet owners from every corner of the globe.
Can I collect my portrait in person?
Yes! You can visit by appointment to collect your artwork, meet me or bring your pet for a photo session. I love meeting clients in person.
Will my pencil portrait truly capture my pet?
Yes. My goal is always to capture not just your pet’s appearance but their unique personality. I encourage clients to send a variety of photos showing different poses and angles. Quirky stories and personality details help me bring them to life on paper.
Do your pencil portraits come framed?
My drawings arrive unframed however I can guide you on framing if required.
Do you provide a design before starting?
Yes. I work with my clients closely in the early stages to design their pencil portrait using their photos and Photoshop. I create a mock up so that we all know what the drawing will look like before I put pencil to paper.
Do you draw people?
I am only drawing animals and wildlife at this time.
Is it possible to have a bespoke size?
Yes. I can cut my paper to any size, and can create my pencil portraits to any size. Just let me know the size you are looking for and I will be able to send you a quote.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Absolutely. I also offer Gift Vouchers if you'd like the recipient to choose their own portrait.
Will my portrait be displayed in your gallery?
I usually add finished portraits to my gallery and blog. If you'd prefer to keep your portrait private, just let me know.
Why not send me photos of your dog, cat or horse, I can help you choose the perfect photo for the drawing. We can chat about your pet and your ideas for a custom piece of artwork. Really looking forward to working with you!
